Things have been busy. Helping my bf get ready for tour, a month long trip this time. Eek! It's a full time job getting all the bases covered before he leaves.
So, he walked out the door this morning & I seem to be coming down with something... my stomach is up. set. Psychosymatic or just the way things work out? I am not sure.
So here I lay in bed... let the listing begin.
All I want to do is hibernate. I want the weather to turn, the leaves to fall, some hot tea, an earlier sunset, soft knitted things to cozy up in & a happy stomach.
*sigh*
hibernation wish list? oh yes!
Lets start off with the entire Six Feet Under series. It's the best show that's ever existed if you ask me. It's hilarious, totally strange, & much like court TV it makes me feel way better about my lot in life.
Because I get cold & because it is adorable, I want. need. this lovely hat from Lonely Planet
These loud & proud patchwork leggings from Animated Closet look as though they were made for me! Let me live on my couch in these bad boys! Added Bonus: If I had to go out for something I wouldn't have to change for fear of running into someone. I'd already look amazing.
One thing I would go out for is tea to calm my stomach. My favorite is always green peppermint tea, which isn't really worth writing home about, but it's my fav. If I felt better & had days on end at home hunkering down in my creative bunker with my manfriend I would like to try My Maple Cookie from Intimate Teas. They claim that it makes you smell AND taste like a maple cookie! That ladies & gentlemen is exciting! They also have a tea by the name of "Screaming O" which says it all. Check out their website for details.
And last but not least, these fuzzy wuzzy shoes say "pretty please shuffle about in me!"
I believe they can be found on Zappos - of course...
Since I am addicted to polyvore (I try to keep it at a minimum) I made a hibernation collage. In which you can see my full hibernation day dream in all it's glory.
You should make one too so we can compare notes ;)

Time to meet your MAKER
Not too long ago I learned that Stitch will not be happening this November which broke my little crafty heart as I have been a vendor for the past 3 years. It is the one craft fair that I was sure to participate in every year. It hasn't been canceled, just postponed. Still sad news. So, I started thinking "crap, where am will I be getting my craft fair fix this year? ACL is too expensive... dang."
Luckily I had a little meet & drink with Katie from CRAFT a few weeks ago & she informed me that Bazaar Bizarre will be a part of MAKER Faire this year! I had heard of
this Bazaar Bizarre, but never attended one since it usually resides on the west coast. So that night I put in my application, crossed my fingers & voila! Model Citizen was accepted!
What you need to know:
MAKER Faire is
Saturday, October 18th: 10am-10pm
&
Sunday, October 19th: 10am-6pm
@ The Travis County Event Center & Fairground
What will you find there other than Bazaar Bizarre?
There is no telling! Robots, maybe some segway polo, a larger than life Mouse Trap, not to mention art, crafts, techy goodness, music (!), & all things wired, soldered, & electronically brought to life that you can imagine! In other words, it's NOT to be missed!
As I mentioned above, I do not participate in too many craft fairs.. I have a day job & one million things to do outside of it! So I am asking for your help:
Do you have any awesome crafty idea's for displaying jewelry? Keep in mind that we are talking about a 6 x 6 foot space. I will not be setting up a big table because I will need room for the clothing racks (which will be full of new hoodies, dresses, & T's!).
So lay it on me! I believe in your crafty / organizational powers!

Techy & Sexy
**This post has adult themes & should not be viewed by the kiddo's**
So, it's the year 2008 & NO, we do not have flying cars, hover boards, or robot maids like so many movies & tv shows predicted... BUT we do have the internet & without it we'd be forced to continue doing whatever it was people did before it's invention.
So, today I'm checking my email & there was something in there from Babeland. I haven't checked their website in a long time so I paid them a visit. The page pops up & I learn that it is their 15th Aniversary... "Wow" I think, "that's weird, it's BUST's 15th anniversary too". Which is pretty cool! Makes me wish I were old enough in 1993 to get in on the ground floor of either of these amazing companies. But anyway, while cruising I am introduced to Sasi, which they tell me "know's what I want". Which is strange considering we've just been introduced... Then I did what you should do, I watched the video. They say it better than I ever will, so watch & learn
**there is no nudity but - once again - this is a video about a toy that is not suitable for children**
whoa!
Sign me up for anything that has a "don't stop" button...
After this informative little vid I decided I had seen enough of Babeland for one day & skipped over to BUST.com where imidiately I run into this!
Yes Ladies & Gentlemen, you are looking at spray on condoms! They are still being tested but soon, one day, you can bust out a can of "Jolly Joe", tag your man, & get down to business! I do have a few concerns:
1. "What if" you miss a spot? Scary!
2. "What if you get it in your eye?!" No Thank You!
I'm not sure I prefer spray on condoms & sexually intuitive toys over a hover board, but I have to give a big High 5 to technology anyway. Go Team!
So what do you think? Are these exciting advances in our mondern world?

Want. Need.
Making lists is such a sunday thing for me. Oh Sunday, let's get married. Just you, me & some paper for listing. Yes please.
It is fun to make lists & double fun to want things you don't necessarily need. What do you get when you put those two things together? My "Pretty Please!?" list:
Mr. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar! You know me, I am only ever really concerned with my next meal & with Mr. Bento I can just take my next meal (all 4 courses of it) with me anywhere I go. All in one neato little package. Mr. Bento even has it's own food porn community!
High 5 Mr. Bento! lunch goes voyeuristic, I love it!
A years subscription to New American Paintings! The most impressive & inspiring art publication available ANYWHERE! Each issue is like walking through one of the greatest contemporary art museums you can imagine.
Flight of the Concords sugar cookies! Need I say more?
How have I been living with out a pink hand-embroidered vagina?! How?!
Holga! Holga! Holga! Holga!
I may actually need this! I had such an amazing time with the Holga I borrowed from Rissa when I went to NY. I miss it, I want more! I want to experiment! To Customize...
And last but certainly not least...sigh
Isn't she dreamy?

Soup, Beautiful Soup
Last night I found myself at Emo's watching PJ & The Bear. I was happy to see my dear friend Pat there too. Like it happens with friends as you get older you see less and less of eachother. People get busy, move further away, blah blah. Pat is generally on tour which is pretty exciting. At least I don't see him because he is doing something interesting.
So, we get to visiting, catching up & what not. Pat informs me that he's been cooking a lot! This is very exciting because he once was a typical bachelor, consuming only things made out of potatoes, or worse - coffee, beer & cigarettes. He tells me that he's into soups. Says he's makes a killer tortilla soup. I don't think he knew this, but I am a "Soupie" & as such I challenged him to a "Soup Off". Heck Yes!
Today I was thinking about it & I dug through my recipes to see which soup I was going to put in the ring & I decided on this awesome Indian bean soup.
It's really tasty & pretty unique I think. So I wanted to share the recipe with you.
For a split second I thought that I should not post the recipe until after the soup off, I don't want show my cards ya know? But I'm pretty sure Pat doesn't read my blog, so here we go.
Indian Bean Soup
serves 6
Ingredients:
4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 onions peeled and chopped
1 1/2 cups potatoes cut into chunks
1 1/2 cups chopped parsnips
1 1/2 cups chopped turnips aka rutabaga
2 sticks celery chopped
2 medium zucchini sliced
1 green bell pepper seeded and chopped
2 garlic cloves crushed
2 tsp ground coriander
1 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp mild curry paste
5 cups veggie stock
1 14 oz can black eyed peas (drain and rinsed of course)
handful chopped cilantro to garnish
here's what you gotta do:
Heat up the oil add all the prepped veggies except for the zucchini & the bell pepper.
Stir it up for 5 or so minutes then add the garlic, coriander, paprika, & curry paste
cook & stir for another minute
then ya gotta:
Stir in the stock, season w/ salt & pepper to your liking. Bring to a boil
cover & simmer over low heat for 25 minutes
after that:
ya gotta stir in your pea's, zucchini & green bell peppers. Cover & cook for
another 15 minutes.
this next step I feel is optional, but it does make for a thicker texture (if you are into that sort of thing):
transfer a little over a cup of the soup to a blender, puree that shit &
then put it back in the pot with the rest of your delish soup.
now you are done. Grab a ladle - serve it up, top it off with some
cilantro & TAH DAH!
Dinner :)
if you decide to make this soup please let me know what ya think.
I made it a week ago & Austin ate it all up so fast that I didn't get a chance to take pictures... there will be Soup Off pictures though. You can be sure of that!

Erika Wennerstrom is my Shero!
Recently I have returned to my bikram yoga practice, which is very good, but man sometimes it leaves me feeling a little dead on my feet.
That's why last night as I stepped into The Continental Club to see The Heartless Bastards I was just not feeling it. A drink didn't sound good, the opening band was bothering me, the crowd was completely on top of me & I had to wonder if I should have just stayed home. This would be my first time to see them live & being a negative Nelly I started thinking that if they sucked it would really ruin it for me.
But whatever, I get a drink and cuddle up to the front of the stage with my bitches. The band comes out & I have to say Erika Wennerstrom is just so tiny & cute!
I couldn't wait to hear that deep soulful voice come out of such a petite person. This was the first show with the new HB line up, she seemed nervous & for no good reason! Every song was spot on & the little fuck ups were endearing. The crowd went wild when Erika joked that they considered changing the bands name to Capt. Dinomite & The God Damned Flame Throwers. Cute!
Speaking of cute - her new band mates tatolly fall into that category. My good friend John Farmer & I swayed on the side of the stage for a bit, talking about the drummer "He's dreamy" John yelled "oh god yes!" I replied.
To make a long story a little shorter, I'm very glad I went! They are playing the Continental again on the 21st & ACL next month. Don't miss it! Oh & for my fellow Austinites, you will be happy to hear that The Heartless Bastards have relocated from Ohio to Austin, that's right! They are one of us now ;)
I took some photos with my crappy camera - here's a little collage of them.

Time To Dance This Mess Around!
I'll have to let my boyfriend know that he's got competition, because Gregg Gillis of Girl Talk is whispering sweet nothings in my ears, all day & all night! He is the man who has it all! Including my full attention ;)
Monday afternoon I purchased his new album Feed The Animals & I feel as though it will live in my cd player FOREVER.
I love a good sound collage, but his pairings are plain genius. Tell me, how do you pleasantly mix Kriss Kross with The Band? Can you even imagine Missy Elliot in the same room as Enigma? No, & definitely not sharing sonic space on the same album. But he's done it. Which is pretty exciting, but what's the cherry on top you ask? Well, how about the fact that his record label, Illegal Art is offering Feed The Animals @ whatever price you would like to pay? Yeah! How about them apples, or cherries, or wait what were we talking about?
Sorry, I got distracted by his awesomeness.
He's easy to listen to and easier to look at...
*swoon*
I mean, who studies Biomedical Engineering & then goes on to make the party album of the year?
This guy, that's who!
He made the Amps sound cooler than they did before? He may truly be the man of my dreams! Girl Talk is on a massive tour, go see him, shake your shit, & maybe take off your clothes. He will.

If it's life you tend to like...
Better get yourself a bike!
Truer words have never been spoken! I dare you to say you don't love a good bike ride, or to tell me that you have never experienced bike lust. I "triple dog dare you"!
Being on a bike lets you experience the world around you in a totally different way. Driving down your street day after day, you miss all the little things that made you want to live there in the first place. But on a bike, it's all right there. You just cruise by and take it all in. I am guilty of not riding my bike enough. This is mostly because my bike is heavy & rusty. I can make it through a 90 minute bikram yoga class, but could I ride my bike to work & back? I am not so sure. With only 1 working gear the odds aren't looking so good. I do have my eye out for a new ride though. Something Danish & covered in baskets! I was shopping around on the web the other day for something with two wheels that I couldn't say NO to when I found the most amazing thing! Eric Stallers Conference Bike! Maybe it's old news but it wasn't to me! This contraption seats 7 people, everyone peddles & one person steers! Can you say Neato?! It wasn't what I was looking for but wow, I'm glad to know that it exists! See what I mean?
Geez, those people look happy. I see lot's of happy people on bikes here in Austin, TX. I want to be one of them. A big YES to joining their ranks & starting a gang :)
The other afternoon while I was day dreaming about this imagined gang I made these heart shaped bicycle rings. Because that's what I do, I make stuff.
I know a lot of people who make stuff, but I should note that part of the inspiration for said gang & the rings that followed came from my friend Eli. She has decked out her schwinn, in a totally kitschy & classy way. Jealous much?! I know I am! High 5 Eli! Keep the rhinestones comin'!
I guess that's all for now on the bike front. Maybe I'll go take my beast for a spin around the hood.
tah tah!

Victoria's Secret? I think not!
Why would you wear something that needs to be kept a secret? As I said in my previous post I have been doing a lot of swimming this summer, and a lot of it has been impromptu. Most of my la la lingerie is colorful and can usually pass for a swimsuit so I'll strip down and hop in the "crick" with the best of them. That being said, I have been on the look out for new, & awesomely exciting under garments. You know - underwear that should be worn - out there. Things to cover my unmentionables that are bad ass enough to be mentioned. This is where my Etsy addiction pays off! Chonies, knickers, whatever you want to call them, I have found some that will make you feel like a kid again, look like candy, & just generally effing rock. Check it out:
X Poppys Wicked Garden X makes these super cute Power Ranger panties that make me want to have sleepovers and save the world (in not much else)...
This adorable set by Sugar Doll could totally pass for a swimsuit and see what I mean about looking like candy?! Yum!
Now, I wouldn't want to go swimming in this set by Cherry Pie Punk, being white and all... but I would love to unveil it for my rock star boyfriend! Put on some Guns n Roses and turn off the phone for a while...
I'll race you to the check out counter!
